Our manufacturing environment requires precision, attention to detail and quality. The Manufacturing Supervisor will be responsible for leading the manufacturing team to build reliable products. This individual is responsible for a team of employees that build and/or test various products in support of the multiple business needs of our customers.

The responsibilities include daily administrative duties of time approval, establishing production priorities in the work cell, communicating priorities to the team, establishing employee goals and developing performance reviews, increasing team engagement, employee development initiatives, clear / concise communication across the work cell, and adherence to the area and company procedures and policies. This leadership position additionally includes working closely with the upper management organization team to support the resolution of technical issues in the work cell, evaluation of factory yield data, and implementation of root cause/corrective action analysis; equipment maintenance & calibration strategies to ensure equipment capacity is available to support production schedules; evaluation of process flows to ensure optimal process flow minimizing cycle time thru the manufacturing work cells, as well as provide employee feedback to the manufacturing engineering team relative to equipment and tooling needs.

Basic Qualifications:

We are seeking a seasoned individual with supervisory skills in a metal fabrication and machining environment to lead a team of employees. You must have a minimum of 8-10 years of supervisory experience. Candidate must be able to conduct qualification testing for employees and understand the various trades we employ. The following are the skilled employees that you will be supervising:

  • Welder
    • Skilled in all facets of TIG and MIG welding operations
    • Ability to fit up complex fabrication assemblies maintaining tolerances and alignment
    • Ability to build templates, jigs and fixtures and other work aids to hold and fit parts
    • Ability to develop new welding processes and develop the new welding procedures
    • Determine required equipment and welding method
    • Set up and monitor other welders during qualification testing
    • Ability to produce 100% penetration welds
    • Ability to use precision measuring equipment to inspect dimensions and angles including calipers, micrometers, protractor and other precision measuring devices
    • Ability to ensure welds meet standards and specifications
    • Ability to use cutting equipment effectively and efficiently
    • Ability to read and understand drawings including weld symbols
    • Proficient at grinding, filing, sanding and deburring completed parts

 

  • Manual Machinist
    • Machinist must be skilled in all facets of machine shop operations. Must be able to setup and operate manual lathes, mills and other basic machine tools to produce precision machine parts without supervision
    • Must be able to determine the most efficient, cost effective manner in which to produce custom machined parts
    • Ability to set up and machine parts including castings and fabricated weldments
    • Must have knowledge of materials including carbon steels, stainless steels, aluminum, specialty alloys and tool steels. Must have knowledge of the perishable tool types and grades required for use in lathes, mills and drills as it relates to different materials
    • Must have the ability to design and make tooling and fixtures to hold parts for machining
    • Observe and listen to operating machines or equipment in order to diagnose machine malfunctions and to determine need for adjustments or repairs
    • 2 years machine shop technical school or equivalent
    • Ability to read and understand instruction manuals, maintenance manuals, machine readouts, dials, tape measures, micrometers (digital and Vernier scale) and any other measuring devices required in the machinist trade
    • Must be well versed in the different facets of machine work
    • Set up and monitor jobs for machine operators
    • Train new employees and cross train other employees in machining techniques

 

  • CNC Machinist
    • Analyze work orders to determine production schedules. Direct work based on machine capabilities, machine and operator availability, and tool package availability
    • Assign work to department personnel in order to meet production goals
    • Review production data daily and follow up with operators to understand significant issues affecting productivity
    • Work with Methods, Maintenance, Supply Chain and other departments to resolve productivity issues
    • Ensure that tools, holders, inserts, jaws and other supplies stored at the point of use are neatly organized and replenished
    • Oversee operator self-inspection to ensure that ISO 9001 quality processes are followed
    • Train and direct operators on machine set-up and operation procedures
    • Confer with Human Resources regarding workers actions and enforce safety regulations
    • Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product
    • Maintain time and production records
    • Confer with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments
    • CNC Machining Supervision experience is required
    • Six or more years of directly related experience in CNC Manufacturing operations. Bachelor’s degree preferred
    • Prefer experience with advanced manufacturing theory, processes and applications
    • Knowledge of Inventory software, Manufacturing software and Microsoft Office Suite
    • Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, ISO 9001 experience is a plus

In our fast-paced environment, the Manufacturing Supervisor will be responsible for bottom-line results and will report back to the President.
